Oh, Inverted World

Whether or not the album lives up to the breathless "It’ll change your life!" claims made about it in Garden State, the less ironic direction of 2000s indie begins here.

The production of the album is refreshing as well. It's a wall-of-sound. Not the crisp and hollow digital sound of the ‘90s, but a warm, full sound that's just comforting. And, to sweeten the icing, James Mercer's insightful and poetic lyrics speak mouthfuls of not being understood by anyone so almost everyone can identify with it.
