The Dutch band Le Dimanche creates cinematic music, with hints of postrock, jazz and triphop. From beautiful landscapes and dreamy nocturnes upto pitchblack moods with more heavy sounds. The band themselves cites The Cinematic Orchestra, Radiohead, Jaga Jazzist, Oceansize and Massive Attack as important influences. On their debutalbum Colour of Shade, released October 3rd 2009, Le Dimanche takes you on a trip into a wide array of cinamatic scenes and emotions. The album was recorded, mixed and produced by the band itself. Remarkable is the role of guitarist and vocalist Marjolein Kooijman, also known as the bassplayer of The Gathering. Colour of Shade has been released under a Creative Commons license to stimulate creative use of the music. Via their website Le Dimanche invites talented filmmakers, animationheroes and VJ’s to cooperate for a Museumtour that is planned for 2010 where different artforms will be combined: art, film and music. Live Le Dimanche is an audio-visual surprise full of film, music, VJ’s and DJ’s. On the releaseparty the five bandmembers were backed-up by a live strings and brass as well as beautiful videoprojections by VJ Martijn Bos.
