Born in Brooklyn, ''Tintweiss'' studied bass with ''Steve Swallow'', "Gary Peacock" and ''David Izenzon'' and Jazz arranging with "John Carisi". Student of electronic music composition with "Hubert Howe" at Queens College, and "John Watts" at the New School for Social Research. Performing during the 60's with the most enraged of the free jazz cats - from ''Jacques Courcil'' and ''Byard Lancaster'' to ''Frank Wright'', "Burton Greene", "Patty Waters", "Charles Brackeen" and ''Marzette Watts'' - ''Albert Ayler'' called him for the 70 France trip. He led his own outdoor bands the "Purple Why" and ''Spacelight Band'' spanning forty years. Steve currently works on his extensive archives spanning 50 years of audio recordings, video and music manuscripts.
