A very subtle bassist, ''Gary Peacock'' started his US carreer on the West Coast, where he met ''Paul Bley''. Like many others he eventually moved to NYC in the 60's - backing-up ''Don Ellis'', ''Bill Evans'', or ''George Russel'', he then got mixed with the ''Ayler'' posse, with whom he recorded a number of landmark contributions to the free jazz history. After a hiatus in the 70's, he played again from time to time with ''Paul Bley'' and other small formations.
