Mr ''Cedar Anthony Walton Junior'' was a solid and appreciated hard-bop pianist. Featuring in a number of ''Blue Note'' sessions, he was once a regular in ''Art Blakey's Jazz Messengers''. Also to be found on ''Coltrane's'' ''Giant Steps'', he then lead his own combos for the past three decades, including sessions with ''Sam Jones''. While most of his extensive discography is rewarding, ''Art Blakey's Mosaic'' (''Blue Note'') is a good choice for a quick glimpse, with a killer formation including ''Blakey'', ''Hubbard'', ''Shorter'', ''Curtis Fuller'' and ''Jymie Merrit''.
