Mr ''Richmond'' possibly was the strongest rhythmic partner of ''Charles Mingus'', during more than 20 years. Featuring on almost every ''Mingus'' session, ''Richmond'' also was highly involved in ''Mingus Dinasty'' after the genius bassist passed. A unique drummer, sensitive, versatile, ''Dannie'' was then a member of ''Don Pullen'' and ''George Adams'' formation, and freelanced in a wide range of musical areas, including features with... with... with... Elton John! His own discography counts half a dozen records, among which one can find the exceptionnal ''Ode to Mingus''.
