Carlton Manning was joined by his brothers, Donald and Linford, in a seminal rock steady harmony group known as Carlton and the Shoes (linked with Kingston's legendary Studio One), and creators of one of the foundation albums of the era, "Love Me Forever". The rhythms, the musicianship, the vocals and harmonies were evocative of the Motown/Jamaican connection of the 60s, and proof that soul was taking root around the world, with its own flavor, wherever it emerged... while being a purely Jamaican force unto itself.
